Am I alone in believing that Westcombe has been "shafted" by the loggers?
Several of us cannot do Sunday-shoots, so we go to Wesctombe on Tuesdays. Yesterday, it was almost impossible to park amid the churned-mud in the car parking area, which has now been filled with logs, leaving little room for more than three cars. Goodness knows how club members cope on a Sunday morning.
The course has been devastated by even more logging-damage, with the main-tracks now demanding welly-boots and the entire course strewn with discarded branches - making it very difficult to scramble from one shot to the next.
Is Nigel aware of this devastation? Does he care? Westcombe is paying him as much rent as the "Company of 60" pays for 100 acres in much more expensive Surrey for seven-days a week access, without any of this obscene destruction and devastation. And Westcombe can only use those woods on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursday afternoons.
The new adjoining land, with seven-days access, is great - but relies on the same access track and car-parking area, which have been ruined by the loggers.
Westcombe's woodland was a beautiful facility: it is now a disaster-area. Has the time come to get Nigel to repair the damage - or find a new home?
I'll be interested to see whether this posting generates any responses from committee post-holders or other members. I've noticed that former posts have generated lots of viewings, but no comments. This is supposed to be the communications channel for Westcombe members.
Come on, everyone, let's communicate!
Very best wishes
David
